Many people find that when they have the right information in their hands, they can launch significant growth in themselves and in their families - even if they're not in professional counseling at the time. In fact, self help can often be the most powerful engine of change. When you wrestle personally with an issue, finding or developing solutions to your own problems, you tend to value the answer much more than if someone just handed it to you.
Use these resources to research, study out, and investigate solutions. Practice the skills you learn, consistenly and diligently, over the process of time. As you do so, you will find that you can improve much in your own situation. And, if at some point you do choose to seek help from someone else, you will be much better prepared to share with that other person what you've already done, and where you ran into trouble, and need additional guidance. Help and instruct yourself first, as much as you can - then, others can be of even more assistence to you.
