Well and HappyRetirement (Encore Life)

Retirement is a phase of life that most of us look forward to for decades.  However, when the time actually arrives to let go of the accustomed schedule, structure, and sense of identity and purpose that our work lives had provided, sometimes retirement can prove to be an unexpectedly difficult transition.

Rather than simply "stop working," a more useful paradigm to guide the retirement transition is to "Build an Encore Life."  This means - to find a new sense of purpose, and a new context and identity to continue to contribute to the world in a meaningful way after retirement. This may consist of strengthening existing relationships (such as marriage or grandparenting), building a new "Encore Career," or finding new hobbies or volunteer opportunities.  The resources in this section will provide rich new ideas to help you develop a joyful and fulfilling "Encore LIfe."
